Is Your Website Giving AI Enough to Work With?

October 19, 2026 | Blog

There's a lot of conversation right now about AI visibility.

How do we get ChatGPT to mention us? How do we get Gemini to recommend us? What technical changes do we need to make so AI can find our website?

Those are reasonable questions. But I think we're skipping one that's even more important.

Does our website actually give AI a reason to recommend us?

Imagine asking Gemini to name the best credit union to join in your community. Your credit union isn't mentioned, so you start looking for ways to improve your AI visibility.

But take a step back.

Does your website explain what makes your credit union a good choice? Does it clearly communicate who you serve, what makes you different, and why someone might choose you over another financial institution?

Does it answer the questions someone would ask when deciding where to become a member?

Or does it mostly describe your products, list your services, and assume people will figure out the rest?

There's a difference between telling people what you offer and helping them understand why it matters to them.

AI needs useful information, too.

Technical foundations matter. Your content needs to be accessible, understandable, and structured in ways that help AI systems interpret it. But no technical improvement can guarantee that AI will recommend you, and it can't replace information your website never provided in the first place.

If you want AI to explain why your credit union is a good choice, give it something meaningful to work with.

Explain what makes you different. Answer the questions people actually ask. Provide useful, specific information that helps someone make a decision.

Don't just tell people you're a great credit union. Show them why.

You can't expect AI to provide answers if your website isn't providing them first.

Maybe the first step toward better AI visibility isn't figuring out how to get mentioned.

Maybe it's making sure your website deserves to be part of the answer.
